Review of Check-in Process at McCormick Place.  Check in procedures at McCormick Place in Chicago has been changed as of May 1.    All EACs, whether having a base of operations in Chicago or traveling to Chicago to service clients, should make themselves familiar with the new process if you aren’t already.  Highlights of the new BEEP procedures includes:

  • Single point of entry for each building on the campus
  • A complete list of all employees who need access to the building must be sent to facility security on a daily basis
  • All company employees must wear a shirt, smock, or vest with identifying numbers

New Check-in Process at George R. Brown.  The George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB) will be rolling out a new security check-in for all labor coming into the GRB. This will be the only point of entry and will be located on Polk Street, west of Chenevert Street. Unless you have been issued a hang tag for Lot 4, you will not be allowed access to the gate at Walker Street and Chenevert Street.   In the next few weeks, we will be working to produce clear signage to direct labor to the new security check-in. We appreciate you participation and help in keeping the GRB a safe and secure convention center.

85 Countries Take Part in 2018 Global Exhibitions Day.  <TSNN>   Exhibition professionals around the world came out in record numbers for the third Global Exhibitions Day (GED) June 6. Not only did this highlight the industry’s role as a driver of economic growth, but also established GED 2018 as the biggest day of advocacy for the exhibition world so far, with 85 countries taking part, according to data from UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry. This year’s GED focused on two key areas: first, to advocate industry issues with politicians and stakeholders, and secondly, on finding new ways to connect with young people to attract the right talent to the exhibition industry. By the end of the day, the UFI team in Paris had registered activities in 85 countries and regions from all around the world, with the leading organisers, venues and service providers all being active. This year’s success builds on the impressive results from the 2017 campaign, which already set a record for global industry advocacy. Coordinated by UFI, this joint advocacy campaign also united 41 GED partner associations.
