Save the Date for the 2018 RSMGC.   The 2018 Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic will take place at Chateau Elan on Friday, October 5, 2018.   This will be the 24th annual golf tournament to raise funds for families in the exhibition industry who have suffered severe tragedies or face insurmountable medical expenses.   Be sure to mark it on your calendar.    Atlantat RSMGC registration is now open for all who want to participate as player or sponsor this great event.

Review of Check-in Process at McCormick Place.  Check in procedures at McCormick Place in Chicago has been changed as of May 1.    All EACs, whether having a base of operations in Chicago or traveling to Chicago to service clients, should make themselves familiar with the new process if you aren’t already.  Highlights of the new BEEP procedures includes:

  • Single point of entry for each building on the campus
  • A complete list of all employees who need access to the building must be sent to facility security on a daily basis
  • All company employees must wear a shirt, smock, or vest with identifying numbers

Sho Link Names Virene Senior National Account Manager.  <Exhibit City News>  Lake Forest, IL based Sho-Link, a national I&D services company, has named Nancy Virene as their Senior National Account Manager.  Virene brings more than 28 years as national account and operations manager for EWI Worldwide.    When she’s not servicing accounts for Sho-Link, Nancy volunteers time to support the efforts of the RSMGC in Chicago as the go to person for the Chicago Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic which takes place this year on July 30 at Seven Bridges Golf Club in Woodridge.

 

Eagle Management Hires First Account Coordinator.   Eagle Management Group (Eagle) is delighted with the transition of Antonia Nuzzolo, a former Eagle intern, to full-time employment as an Account Coordinator. In this new role, she is instrumental in assisting the corporate sales team in providing great customer service across the nation.   Nuzzolo graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rowan University in May of 2018 with degrees in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

 

Sho-Link Names Genzano West Coast Regional Director.      Genzano joined Sho-Link as a lead man in November 2006; he was promoted to Southern California City Manager in January 2007 and Regional Operations Manager in 2014.  During his 19 years in the industry he has worked as a runner, warehouse man, traveling lead man, show floor coordinator and spent time working with an exhibit builder.

In addition to his oversight of our West Coast operations, including California, Nevada, and Texas, his areas of responsibility include international business, employee mentorship and training, and participation in our Technology Innovation Group.

Expo Group Honors Four Industry Professionals.  <TSNN>   The Expo Group, an exhibitions and events partner that invests in growth, has unveiled The Expo Group Show Manager of the Year (SMOTY) Awards for 2018.Honorees were nominated by their peers, voted upon by an independent industry judging panel and will be celebrated on Aug. 11 at the 2018 TSNN Awards in Louisville, Ky.  2018 Honorees include:

  • Kim McQueen, Executive Director, American Association of Dental Office Management for Tier 1 (1-200 booths)
  • Liz Miller, Vice President, JD Events for Tier 2 (201 to 500 booths)
  • Manolita B. Moore, MBA, VP of Exhibit Sales and Operations, North American Veterinary Community for Tier 3 (501 to 1500 booths)
  • Mark Bogdansky, Senior Director of Meetings and Events, Auto Care Association for Tier 4 (1500 booths or more)

INFOCOMM Sets New Records in Las Vegas  <TSNN>  The Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association lowered the curtain on its first InfoComm show in North America as AVIXA, while the annual trade show and conference for audiovisual professionals set new records for size and attendance.     Held June 6-9 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, the show kicked off with a record-setting TIDE (Technology. Innovation. Design. Experience.) conference and boasted an exhibition that attracted nearly 43,000 registered attendees from across the U.S. and abroad, a 10 percent increase compared to the last time InfoComm was held in Las Vegas, in 2016.

The show’s 964 exhibitors anchored a bustling expo that spanned 550,000 net square feet of exhibits, demo rooms and special events space, making it the largest InfoComm ever, while 94 percent of this year’s exhibit space was rebooked for InfoComm 2019 – another new record, according to show officials.

UBM Acquires Battery Show Europe  <TSNN>  UBM, now part of Informa, the world’s leading B2B events organizer, today announces that it has acquired The Battery Show Europe and co-located Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo Europe from UK-based Smarter Shows.   Through this acquisition UBM increases its coverage of advanced battery technology and strengthens its position in the energy storage market in Europe.
