NADA 2025 Blizzard Shuts Down New Orleans <Exhibit City News>New Orleans isn’t supposed to get snow. And certainly not a record-breaking blizzard that would shut down the city, cripple its infrastructure, and leave tradeshow crews battling the cold, hunger, and exhaustion just to get the job done. But in January 2025, that’s exactly what happened….

Flights were canceled. Roads were impassable. Grocery stores were emptied. And inside the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, where hundreds of workers were racing to assemble massive booths and displays, the temperature hovered in the 20s. You could see your breath inside the building.

And yet, against all odds, the show opened on time.Read more

LVCVA Central Hall Construction Update – letterhead LVCC Construction Map – March 2025 ECA Advocacy Update   President Trump recently signed an executive order calling for federal agencies to create a system “that centrally records approval for federally funded travel for conferences and other non-essential purposes.”

Why it matters: While ECA supports efforts to safeguard taxpayer dollars by curbing non-essential travel, it’s equally important to recognize the essential role of business and professional events, especially for federal government workers. These include:

  • Connecting government buyers and sellers 🤝

  • Knowledge sharing and innovation 💡

  • Driving the U.S. economy forward 📈

Did you know? Last year, 72% of government budget owners planned to attend at least one conference or trade show.

  • Government involvement is critical for our industry, which is 99% small businesses, to continue driving economic growth, supporting job creation, and empowering U.S. small businesses.

  • Federal support also strengthens the competitiveness of the U.S. as the leading destination for international events, from conferences and trade shows to major global events like the 2026 World Cup.

NAHB Attracts Record Attendance <TSNN> The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) hosted the 81st edition of its Interadational Builders’ Show (IBS) Feb. 25-27. And though the construction show is one the largest of its kind, it boasted record attendance for the first time in 17 years.

More than 81,000 builders, remodelers, developers, and other home building professionals poured into the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) for the three-day event, alongside 750 new exhibitors and 1,050 returning exhibitors, which filled up 728,000 square feet of the 2.9 million-square-foot venue.

Cross Border Trips from Canda to US Hit COVID Low <Meeting News>  In the latest sign that President Donald Trump’s policies and tariffs have shaken bilateral relations, nearly 500,000 fewer travelers crossed the land border from Canada to the United States in February compared with the same month last year.

Air Travel from Canada Plummets Too. Flyers hold fewer than 300,000 advanced bookings between Canada and the United States for April, down more than 75 percent year-over year. For each month from May through September, advanced bookings are down nearly 72 percent, according to aviation data company OAG.
