Clark County Establishes Permit Requirement for Double Deck Booths in Las Vegas.     Recent changes have been made by the Clark County Department of Building and Fire Prevention (CCBD) to the permitting process for temporary buildings and structures, including double deck trade show exhibits.

The amended code affects exhibit structures with ANY of the following conditions:

*   Greater than a single story (double-deck structures) where occupants can be below an elevated floor
*   Having a total occupancy load that exceeds 1,000 persons
*   Covering an area that exceeds 7,500 square feet
*   Temporary structures that are connected to and receive structural support from an existing building or structure

The amended code now requires the exhibitor to obtain a building permit from the Clark County Building Department (CCBD).   In order to obtain a permit, it requires an exhibitor to hire a Nevada licensed contractor or Nevada engineering firm to conduct a civil review of the structure drawings, approve the plans and apply on your behalf to the CCBD. Previously, exhibitors submitted booth plans to the Las Vegas Convention Center’s Fire Prevention department to approve and facilitate plans on-site.   Estimated cost for the permit is $7500 to $8500.

Anyone concerned about the adminsitration and execution of this new rule is invited to attend a special meeting with Clark County today, November 15 at 1pm.   The meeting takes place at 4701 W. Russell Rd.    Click the link for full details.

Local Reps Needed for Skills USA Outreach.    In EACA’s efforts to identify and attract the next generation of EAC trade show professionals, the EACA Board has initiated an outreach campaign to connect with SkillsUSA.     SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to insure America has a skilled workforce.  Our industry faces a challenge of an aging workforce that needs to be replaced by a new generation of motivated, skilled workers.    SkillsUSA is an invaluable resource of that talent and the EACA is looking for local representation in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.
