Exhibitor Advocate Webinar on State of the Industry from Exhibitor Perspective  It’s no secret that exhibitors have long expressed that cost, specifically show service costs, are a major pain point for their ongoing participation. Exhibitor Advocate now has research from The Exhibitor Advocate and EVOLIO Marketing confirming the potential impact on our entire industry.

This State of the Event Industry uncovers several driving factors and critical insights that indicate an urgent need for collaboration between show organizers and exhibitors to maintain trust and ensure financial stability:
• Industry costs, driven heavily by show services, have risen beyond recent inflation rates.
• Almost 50% of exhibitors expressed mistrust towards show organizers—a concerning dynamic affecting collaboration.
• Exhibitors’ proposed solutions could disrupt the revenue models of show organizers – putting additional pressure on all parties.
This report provides critical information for the EAC community.  Additionally, EVOLIO Marketing’s Joe Federbush and Exhibitor Advocate’s Jessica Sibila will be conducting a webinar on January 14 to share their perspective on the research and answer questions from the industry.  Click the link provided to register.

Airline Execs Faced Congress Over Junk Fees  <Meeting News> Executives from five major U.S. airlines faced a grilling on Capitol Hill recently over those pesky add-on fees that regularly cause passengers to pay far more than the base price of a plane ticket.  In a sometimes-heated, two-hour hearing, a Senate subcommittee heard testimony from leaders of American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines.

The topic: steep growth in ancillary fees paid by customers. These costs stretch beyond checked bags to other “extras” like selecting a seat or, on some restrictive tickets, bringing a full-size carry-on bag on board.
