Event Safety and Security Concerns Generate New Policies and Practices.   The EACA is carefully monitoring new event policies and practices which are generated by organizer and venue management safety and security concerns.   While EACs and suppliers everywhere are interested to do what is necessary to insure safe and secure events some of these policies can cause significant hardships on EACs and exhibitors alike.  Examples of some of the newer policies and practices are:

We imagine there may be more examples like this in our industry.   As such, the EACA requests that members assist us in spreading the word about new policies and practices so that all our members can proactively take the necessary steps to be in compliance as you strive to provide world class service to your clients.

Webinar Library   The EACA webinar has held more than 10 webinars at present on such topics as Withdrawal Liability, Cashflow Management and Controlling Workers Comp Costs.  These sessions have been presented by top flight professionals in their respective fields and the information provided can enable you to improve your business’ financial condition and find other meaningful solutions to help your company grow and prosper.

Nina Sims Joins Momentum Management  <Exhibit City News>    Momentum Management welcomes Nina Sins as she joins their growing account coordinating team. Sins comes to Momentum Management with a degree from the University of Georgia in Business with a major in marketing.

Sins is responsible for generating estimates for clients and entering service orders into Momentum Management’s proprietary database system. She joins account executive Kaete Miller’s team and will be supporting the west region. She is also in charge of compiling all service order details relative to the event or show, and delivering the final paperwork file to the city manager prior to installation, overall, performing as a key player in implementing successful and consistent programs for clients.

Nominations Open for Expo Group’s SMOTY Awards  <TSNN>  Know an incredible show manager? Now’s the time to nominate him or her for The Expo Group’s annual Show Manager of the Year awards, also known as SMOTY.   This year’s SMOTY trophies will be awarded at the TSNN Awards in Dallas, set to take place Nov. 16. Winners will receive complimentary registration and travel to the event, plus a $500 donation to the charity of their choosing. 

The deadline for nominations is Sept. 13—you can submit your nominations here. You can also see a list of previous SMOTY winners, which includes managers of events with 50 exhibitor booths to more than 200 booths, by going here.

Nth Degree Redefines Event Technology Solutions Offering      Nth Degree announced its redefined Event Technology Solutions service offering, under the events business. Jake VanPatten, recently promoted to Director, Events Technology Solutions at Nth Degree, will oversee the new service offering that is aimed at solving customers’ event technology problems and uncovering technology solutions and enhancements.

The Event Technology Solutions service offering provides clients with event technology expertise and consultative services. This is an extension of services previously provided by Nth Degree, but now organized as a new service offering with a dedicated team and associated resources. Services include technology selection, technology vendor communications and management, emerging technology review and recommendations, on-site technical management, security and network infrastructure management, and implementation, testing and metrics solutions.

TSNN Announces 2019 Fastest Growing Shows  <TSNN>  Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, Trade Show News Network will hold its prestigious and original TSNN Awards program, which honors the top fastest-growing shows in attendance and net square footage Nov. 15-17 in Dallas.    The list of 50 shows that will be feted during the three-day, celebration-filled event can be found listed below and also HERE.
Event Organizers Receive Pay Increases   <Exhibit City News>   Convene, PCMA’s industry-leading magazine, published its annual Salary Survey showing that nearly three-quarters of business events organizers received a raise over the past year—and their average increase of 7 percent is more than twice the average for North American workers across all industries.

New Orleans Clears Last Hurdle for New Hotel  <Exhibit City News>  With the passage of House Bill 617, officials with the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center are now poised to move ahead as planned with negotiating a contract to build a new 1,200-room headquarters hotel as a centerpiece in the facility’s comprehensive five-year, $557 million capital improvement plan.
